York Peppermint Patty Milk ShakesI love recreating some of my favorite goodies at home. My daughter got her bottom braces on yesterday and we always get milk shakes since she can’t eat for a few hours. Instead of hopping over to the local Steak and Shake, which would’ve been easier we opted to make our own York Peppermint Patty Milk Shakes. They are super easy to make, and they were absolutely delicious! The best part is you can make this milk shake for a third of the cost of buying one in a restaurant!

Here’s what you need to make these yummy shakes
1/2 cup – 1 cup Milk (you can use whatever you want Skim, Whole etc) (.16 cents)
1/4 Canned whipped cream (.25 cents)
3 Tbsp Chocolate Sauce (.15 cents)
4-6 scoops Chocolate Ice Cream ($1.50)
10 Small Peppermint Patties (or 2 large ones) ($1.25 at Walmart)
Blender
Glasses (I love putting them in wine glasses)

Total cost per serving:  $1.10!

Directions

Put 4 large scoops of chocolate ice cream in blender

Add 2 Tbsp of chocolate syrup (if desired for extra chocolatey taste)

Add 1/2 cup of milk (may add up to 1 cup depending on thickness desired)

Blend until even consistency. If it’s too thick add more milk a 1/4 at a time. If it’s too runny add one additional scoop of ice cream at a time until desired consistency.

Chop up York Peppermint Patties in smaller pieces, but make sure to leave two whole. You don’t want them too small or they will disappear when you blend them.

After the Yorks are chopped up, add them to the ingredients in the blender. Make sure to save leave out the 2 whole ones. That’s for decoration after your done.

Blend milkshake until peppermint patties are chopped in the milk shake, but not so fine you can’t taste them (approximately 30 seconds)

Grab your glass for your milkshakes, take the chocolate syrup and make a swirl design inside the glass.

Fill 3/4 of the way with your milkshake.

Top with whipped cream, and 1 York Peppermint patty halved and then of course more chocolate sauce!

Enjoy!

Who cares if Nutri- System, Weight Watchers, South Beach or [insert other weight loss management group, points,or book] approves . My mom used to tell me the secret to cutting back [ we don't say dieting , because that's die with a T on the end - my name just happens to start with a T :) ] was : when you are craving a particular food, sit down – eat it until you don’t want anymore. But don’t eat just to be eating . Restart cutting back tomorrow – and you won’t want the chocolate, or chips again for a while. Feed your cravings, and then stop.

I agree with ya! That’s how my nutrionist tells me to eat. She says it’s worse to avoid foods or label them as “bad” if you live in moderation your body will eventually find it’s even level of weight :)
