I grew up loving the Smurfs. I was stoked when I saw they were coming out with a new movie. What a great excuse to throw a party? With invitations in hand, I was determined to get my Smurf on! (Yes, I am a giant child inside life is more fun that way)

Invitations went to 15 of my children’s closest friends. We ended up having 11 over for the party. It was a great showing. The fun part for me was planning and hosting the party. If you want to host your own Smurf Party, here are some tips for refreshments

Make sure to have Smurfberry cupcakes and punch at your next Smurfs party. Here’s how to make them!

Smurf berry Cupcakes

1 box white cake mix

1 can white frosting

Peanut or Min M&Ms (red only)

Directions:

Bake the cake mix per the instructions, and then add 3-4 drops of blue food coloring (or until desired level of blue)

Before icing the cupcakes mix in 3-4 drops of blue food coloring in the white icing.  Once cupcakes are cooled, ice them and then add 3 red M&Ms to the top for Smurfberries!

Smurfberry Punch is super easy. All I did was add blue food coloring to Sprite! The kids thought it was awesome!

As the guests started to arrive, we had the kids color Smurf’s coloring pages, cut out Nerdy glasses, and make Smurf’s hats. While some were busy doing that, we had others playing Smurfs Dance Party for the Wii. Here’s one of the guests getting her Smurfing groove on!

Watch out Smurfette you might have some competition with this little one!

During the whole party, kids could get their pictures taken with a Smurf! It’s this really  neat application for the iPhone from GoldRun! You can “capture” different Smurfs depending on where you are. It’s a neat way to explore your city, and score new Smurfs characters!
Here are some of the Smurfs that showed up to share in our Smurfing good time. Brainy Smurf was always trying to correct everyone, so we had to throw him out of the party, but the others had a great time! We even had a Brainy look a like at the party!

We all loved the movie both kids and parents! There was nothing but positive Smurf love for Smurfs the Movie! Here’s what some of the guests had to say!

  • Wayne (parent) said “I remember Smurfs as a kid. This movie was cute, and might be almost better than the original.
  • Keiran said “My favorite line is ‘Smurfity, Smurf, Smurf, Smurf! There is no need for language like that!!’”
  • Bayla said ” I loved Brainy Smurf, he was a smarty pants!”
As the evening drew to a close, everyone had a fabulous time. I was happy to bring everyone together to spend some quality Smurf time together. It made me remember my love of Smurfs, and share it with my children. It was a really neat experience!
