Surviving the HolidayNo matter how organized you are in your life, when the ingredient ‘holidays’ is added all bets are off! Special shopping trips, parties, school performances and decorating come together to put all your organizing efforts into chaos. How do you successfully wind your way through the maze of everyday life with the holiday hurdles added?

The very first thing needed is a weekly calendar that will allow you see in detail what the week ahead has in store for you. Write everything on the calendar, including school performances, parent teacher conferences, school parties, home parties, extra shopping trips, decorating and meal preparation for those ‘special dinners’.

One way to take some of the stress off is meal planning. Hosting a children’s Halloween party? Buy decorated cookies and cupcakes from your local grocery store. Utilize restaurant delivery for pizza. The kids will love the pizza and treats allowing you a little time to relax or participate in the spooky activities.

Perhaps you are going to host a holiday dinner. One task that is often overlooked during the dinner preparation is the table layout.Surviving the holidays

Nothing is worse than being in the midst of food preparation and having the table look ‘blah’. Make time well ahead of the planned dinner to decide how you will decorate and set the table.

Colors, special dishes and glassware, and the center piece should all be decided well ahead of time to ensure that your table looks special, inviting and just plain wonderful.

Another tip for a successful holiday dinner is to utilize restaurant delivery. Perhaps you want to have a special dish that you have never made before, or a dish that you have never been entirely successful at preparing. Use restaurant delivery for these dishes, ahead of the party of course!

Your guests will be totally impressed with your decorating and your meal, and you will be able to enjoy a relaxed evening with friends and family.
