I love hearing about companies whose products are ahead of their time. What do I mean by that? I mean companies like Marcal Small Steps that started saving trees WAY before saving trees was cool! It was really surprising for me to learn about Marcal Small Steps and its product line, and how they have been saving the environment one tree at a time since 1950.
Before reviewing Marcal Small Steps, I wasn’t very familiar with their products or what they were all about. I mean I had heard of their products, but in my area they aren’t carried a lot of places so I really didn’t have a chance to get to know what their brand stood for before this opportunity.
What really surprised me was the fact that their products are made from NO trees! You read that right! Paper products that don’t cut down a single tree in the making of them, remarkable! What was even more shocking is Marcal Small Steps have been made this way since 1950! I don’t even think we knew what environmentalism was back then. I could be wrong, but that was WAY before my time.
Marcal Small Steps are made from 100% premium recycled paper, not trees. I had to read that sentence twice before it sunk in what that meant, but nope no trees here! Being a proud tree hugger myself, I was really excited when I learned that about their products.
I have to admit, being made of recycled goods I was skeptical at how well these products would work. I am happy to report though, that my family and I loved these products.
When it comes to toilet paper, I swear that my three children are eating it to get extra fiber in their diet or something. They go through massive amounts of toilet paper! I am not sure what it was about the Marcal Small Steps, but even my son noticed that they were going through less toilet paper (translated as less money out of my pocket). I assume it’s because the toilet paper is more absorbent or something, but nevertheless I was thrilled. No longer will I have to keep 100 rolls of toilet paper in the house just to keep my kids stocked.
The paper towels were just as absorbent. I threw every spill I could at them, and I was able to get most spills up with just one or two towels. I even tried the really cool trick of rinsing something in it to see how much weight it would take to break. I think I got up to 6 apples before it decided to split. That’s a lot of weight.
Overall, I was extremely impressed with the benefits of Marcal Small Steps. Who knew a woman could get so excited about paper products? Ok, I know it doesn’t take much. I get excited about neat products easily. I am happy to say Marcal Small Steps gets two Crunchy thumbs up for it’s impact on the environment and their great line of products!
