There has been a lot of stink lately saying that deal bloggers are a waste of bloggy space. We seem to suck the life out of the ever narrow blogosphere. I think some think of deal bloggers as the used car salesmen of the virtual written channels.

But are we just that? Used car salesmen? I personally don’t think so. Yes, ok I will give you that there are a bajillion deal bloggers out there. It’s a highly competitive field. Yes, I will give you that there are a lot out there that don’t know what the heck they are doing. (I like to think they just haven’t learned yet :) )Does that really warrant comparing deal bloggers to garbage? Not really.

I do post a lot of deals on Crunchy Frugalista, but I don’t really consider myself a deal blogger. Honestly, I am not sure what I really consider myself. I am just me. Hopefully that entices you in rather than leads you screaming and running in the other direction, alas I expect some will bolt.

I was recently a part of a Twitter retweeting program, which shall remain nameless, that seems to have it out for deal bloggers because our garbage was clogging up the feed.

The odd part is that you could set people on manual and not Tweet their stuff. I guess that was too complicated for some.

Some even went so far to say that those of us that are a little verbose, ok I know I am VERY verbose (lots of words), are bad parents, but that is a whole other blog post.

So here I am writing what I hope you see to be quality content. To prove that deal bloggers are more than clipping coupons, and use keywords such as “sale”, “free”, and “deal”. Does that mean you are anymore likely to read my stuff? Am I allowed to not be sectioned off as a useless waste of virutal space? Ahhhh, I don’t care even if I am not allowed. I am me, and I am going to continue to me even if some think my deals are nothing by space garbage :)

  1. first of all, that thread of people was ca-razy…for real…
and coupon/deal bloggers have their place in the blogosphere just like mommy bloggers and foodie bloggers and whoever else is blogging…
Don’t let the haters get you down…you’re good at what you do

I have to say I heart what you do too. I can’t read your blog without laughing hysterically and that’s a good thing not laughing at you kinda thing :)

I <3 so many "deal blogs" but whenever I see the same content over and over (I know there are going to be the same content wondering around) but there are so many that cut and paste, it is really annoying….Other than that I love so many!

I can definitely understand that! I know it gets boring for me as a reader as well. That’s why I really don’t try to grab every deal out there. If you can find the same thing on every page you find, you aren’t going to want to look at any of them. That’s what I meant by I am gonna be me. No one else can do that :)

  3. I wasn’t aware that people feel this way about deal blogs. If a deal I or anyone else finds helps another person then it was worth it. I actively read emails from many deal blogs. To those people that are bothered by deal blogs don’t sign up for their emails or like their pages its pretty simple follow the blogs that interest you. I don’t post every deal on my blog mostly my I share my shopping trips. I’m just getting started but I don’t think I will consider my blog just a deal blog. I enjoy your site and I’m sure many other do too. Don’t worry about the haters they will always be there. Just keep doing what you are doing you never know when it will help someone out.

Yeah Denise, this was mainly in a twitter retweeting site b/c they felt deal bloggers were wasting other tweeters time. That we don’t produce “quality content”. I think deal bloggers offer great services to others because we teach others to save money every day. I love the name of your blog, because I agree saving money IS fun :)
