Nurses are one of the professions that I respect the most. It’s a profession that not only takes knowledge but also a heart full of compassion. I have been blessed to have met many extraordinary nurses in my life. My great grandmother, Nana, was a fabulous nurse. Despite being a single mom back in the 1930s, she still managed to put herself through nursing school and to have a very successful career as a nurse.

My Aunt Laura followed in Nana’s footsteps and become a nurse too. She is the most compassionate woman I have ever met, anyone that has her as a nurse is truly lucky!Amazing Nurses Contest

I have to say the most amazing nurse I have ever met was my nurse Lori! She was the nurse that helped deliver my youngest daughter, Bayla. Lori was the floor nurse at the hospital that I was delivery at. She and I had never met before, yet she gave me the most outstanding level of care I have ever received.

There were several times that I was left alone in the labor room, and even though it wasn’t her job to be there she was there for me the whole time. Lori was kind and considerate, and she also wasn’t afraid to help me make my birthing experience the best possible; even if it meant standing up to my doctor.

Lori made the difference between a wonderful, uncomplicated delivery and one that would require a lot more pain and recovery time. She was there all day with me, all 12 hours of my labor, and was even telling me I “had” to have this baby before her shift was up! (We made that deadline by 10 minutes) You could tell she really loved what she did, and that each and every patient was important to her. It’s nurses like Lori that make other nurses proud!

That’s so great! Nurses are definitely amazing people :)

My MIL is a nurse and she’s amazing for a lot of reasons, but it’s really nice to have a close family member who is knowledgeable about various medical conditions. We call her if we are unsure whether to go to the doctor or emergency room and she usually can tell us if it’ll be a waste of time or not.

I think that is one of the best reasons to have a nurse in the family! Don’t know about you, but I hate going to the doctor when I could’ve treated it at home.

  3. A great nurse makes all the difference in the world – I also had an amazing nurse during my delivery, and it was such a life saver to have her there!!

So glad to hear you had a similar positive experience. Labor is hard enough, it’s nice to know nurses out there can make it a little bit “easier”

When I delivered my daughter, my OB didn’t make it in time. My nurse was AMAZING because the anesthesiologist didn’t make it in time either and she kept me focused and calm. I really don’t think I could have made it through the delivery. While she didn’t technically deliver my baby (they grabbed a doctor out of the hall to officially catch my little one), I felt like she was BY FAR the one to do the most work for me.

Wow that must’ve been a wild experience. So glad the nurse was there to save the day!

I am a nurse but I have also been a patient and have been taken care of by some amazing nurses

  6. When my daughter was born prematurely at 28 weeks gestation we were in for the long haul and a 2 month stay in the NICU. There was one nurse that I loved so very much! She was amazing with MeMe and had the loving care I needed as a young teen mom. She was very encouraging and taught me so much!

I am so glad you had such a positive experience during such a difficult time. That can make all the difference.
