burnoutLife can be chaotic. Heck, life is a zoo at my house most of the time. You know when you can’t find anything. Paperwork, diapers, homework is flying all around your house. You can’t find your brain let alone know where the heck that $2 off coupon went. When life is nuts, it’s ok to take a frugalista break.

Yes, there I said it. You don’t have to be a frugalista 24/7, 365. Frugalista burnout is a common side effect from too many deals, too many family obligations, and not enough time. Symptoms include a crazed look in your eyes, unruly hair, wearing your underwear on the outside of your pants. (Ok, so hopefully the last one has never happened, or if it did someone was kind enough to let you know before you stepped outside!)

Don’t let frugalista burnout hit you. If you start to see these symptoms, grab your coupon binder and throw it…….(you thought I was going to say away didn’t you?) in a closet. I would never tell you to throw coupons away. I am not trying to get you to stroke out! If you feel burnt out, TAKE A BREAK! It’s ok, I assure you.

Ok, now for confession time. I am coming back from falling off the frugal horse. I have been shopping sales and such still, but it has been a while since I had used a good amount of coupons. Between my family’s doctors, school, and working I just hadn’t found the time to eye the deals as much as I used to. Hopefully this doesn’t cause me to fall off that proverbial pedestal some have me on. Just letting you know even I am human! Everyone has times that they need to take a  break.

Of course this doesn’t mean that you should be eating out every night and ringing up those credit cards. That might be cause for a frugalista intervention! Just don’t beat yourself up if you don’t buy papers for a few weeks.

Once you feel like you are returning to a normal human state, well at least “normal” as you were before the breakdown, get ready to get back on that horse. Once again you shall reign queen, or king, supreme at saving the big bucks. Just follow these five Crunchy frugal tips, and you will be in tip top shape in no time.
