We all remember those ackward stages between being a little kid and being an adult! The braces, the bad hair cuts, the embarrassing moments. It would’ve been so nice as a young tween girl to have a magazine that understood all of that. Girl nowadays are super lucky! They have great magazines like Discovery Girls!
My daughter has been reading Discovery Girls since she was about 8 years old. Everytime her magazine comes in the mail she pratically races me to the mailbox to grab it out of my hands. Discovery Girls is a great periodical that teaches girls self-esteem, how to cope with embarassing situations, and tons of other great topics that relate to tweens and as they get older the teen set.
This great magazine empowers girls by sharing stories from other tweens and preteens. You can meet real “Discovery Girls” as the magazine travels the country to learn what teens and tweens are really up to. The magazine shares what their dreams are, what their fears are, and of course what their most embarrassing moments are too! These sections really help girls relate to the fact that a lot of other girls out there are having the same feelings as the girl reading this great read.
My daughter’s favorite part of Discovery Girls is “Ask Ali.” This is a great advice column where girls write and ask questions about things like becoming a vegetarian, how old is to old to sleep with stuffed animals, friend drama, and whatever they want to learn about. Ali’s advice is uplifting, honest, and let’s girls know how awesome they are and they can conquer anything standing in their way!
As a mom, Discovery Girls is a great magazine that I know is sending the RIGHT message to little girls. It gives them tips on fashion and makeup, but doesn’t make them feel that they are inadequate if they don’t have it on. They have the perfect blend of building girls up and giving advice on how to look your best, how to make friends, and how to survive those ackward tween/teen years. I know that when my daughter reads Discovery Girls, she is learning very valuable lessons and enjoying knowing she’s not alone!
Discovery Girls recently started adding books to their collections. They have a great series of four books called the “Fab Girl Guide to.” This great series is introduced by Carmen and Dallas Fabrulezzanio, aka the Fab Girls. They are twins that couldn’t be anymore different. Adding these characters to narrate the series is a neat way to tie the whole collection of stories together.
I had a chance to review the “Fab Girls Guide to Getting Through Tough Times.” This most recent book in the series covers the hard topics girls face like getting cyberbullied, being the new kid, divorce, and parents losing their jobs. The best thing about this series, is that each of the topics are written by girls that actually went through it themselves. I believe this gives the Discovery Girls reader the opportunity to see it through someone else’s eyes and connect with them. This does an amazing job letting girls know they aren’t along, and other girls have gone through issues they are going through as well. This is so much better received than an adult telling girls they have been through the same things when they were younger because these girls are going through it now!
Other books in this amazing series include Sticky Situations, Getting your Questions Answered, and Friendship Hardship. If a girl has been through it Discovery Girls has it covered in the “Fab Girls Guide to” series.

my most embarassing moment as a tween was when i was 3and at a school dance. I used to restroo and didnt realize that i had tucked the back of my dress into my underwear. and i walked back onto the dance floor and everyone started laughing.
Most embarrassing moment was being mocked by a kid in middle school about how big my feet were. I was as tall as I am now at age 14, so of course my feet were as big as they needed to be. Well, in his face: I had a modeling career for 11 years!
I would have to say that my Most embarassing Moment as a Tween was One morning I was getting off the School Bus. I went to step down and missed the step. I fell flat on my back on the steps. I was embarassed and in Pain. I got and pretended that I was fine. My back was Black and Purple for a Week!

My most embarrassing moment as a tween was being the only girl in my 5th grade class to have to wear a bra on the first day of school. I was already a B cup at that age, and it was humiliating.
My most embarressing moment as a tween was when my pants decided to rip during lunch at school. Luckily I had my gym shorts in my gym locker. I had to walk across campus ripped pants and all to get to them. But at least I din’t have to finish the whole day that way.
My most embarrassing moment as a tween was when our P.E. Class was evaluated for bras and I was the only one who didn’t need one. My sister, who was 2 years younger than me, had to wear one.
Trying to get a boys attention by singing, and then to be told that I did not sing good. I thought I was all that and real good. That was so embarrassing, I was in the 7th grade.
My most embarrassing moment was I fell off of this piece of playground equipment that my friends and I were sitting on at summer camp….right in front of my summer camp crush!
My most embarrassing moment was in 6th grade. We were at 6th grade camp and my pants fell down in the snow in front of the whole 6th grade class and I couldn’t pull them up because I couldn’t feel my fingers. The worst part was my crush had to help me pull them up.
Leaking through a pad at school when I first got my period
Honestly, I can’t really remember any major tween disasters, tho I’m sure I had some. Like every other girl, I had some “period” issues and had to have my Mom bring new jeans to school for me a time or two.
My most embarrasing moment was jumped up to hit a volleyball and came down on a girl’s head, sher required 3 stitches!
Having one of my “friends” tell me I need to start wearing deodorant in front of a group of boys. I was wearing it at the time so I think she was just trying to embarrass me.
My most embarrassing moment in middle school was when I was trying to look cool in front of the boy that I liked and I ended up tripping, falling and fracturing my ankle. I then spent most of 7th grade on crutches.
Started my period just before class got out/with nothing on to stop the mess!
My most embarrassing moment as a teen was when I really liked this guy & everyone know I did & told me he liked me to & found out they were lying to me & he had never liked me back.
wow, i really dont remember…but i do remember the awkwardness, and sometimes i see that in my daughter and my heart just hurts for her, i remember how hard middle school was!
My most embarrasing moment as a tween was looking for training bras with my mom.
Hmm I would have to say telling my mom I thought I got my first period when actually my pee was just pink from eating beets the night before ahahaha!
when I got my first bra and my brother telling his friend and them teasing me
My most embarassing moment as a teen was when I wrote I love so and so which was my crush in my year book and during assembly he asked to see my yearbook and saw it
