I have talked with you guys about our ritual of family game night. Trust me, if we don’t have it our kids hold us accountable. Family game night is a great time for all of us, and it makes the kids feel like we are paying attention to them.
Family game night usually means a quick and easy dinner. I was really excited to see that Tyson, Heinz, Ore-Ida, and Hasbro had joined together to celebrate Dip Dip Hooray! They put together great ways to whip up a quick meal and spend some quality family game time together!
LET’S HEAD TO WALMART
In preparation for my family game night, I made my list up so I would remember what to get at Walmart. When we only need to get a few things we always head to Walmart, they have the lowest non-sale prices and I can usually find what I am looking for pretty quickly.
After my list, I was off to Wally world! As usual my husband, Mr. Crunchy, was chaufeur. That happens when you have a purple cast on your foot. I was excited though because I didn’t have to drive a cart. My doctor prescribed a roll about so I was able to wheel myself down the aisles! Love the fact that Walmart has really wide aisles, I don’t have to worry about knocking into people or racks with my scooter.
FROZEN FOODS HERE WE COME
First, we hit the frozen foods sections. the signage on the freezers is so helpful. Otherwise, I would probably be lost for days. (Mr. Crunchy says I get lost even with the signs.) We grabbed some Ore-Ida golden french fries, yum! Loved the selection they had. Hubby really wanted to try the sweet potato fries, but I vetoed that.
Walmart is pretty smart when it comes to shelving. There was a whole rack of Heinz ketchup right next to the frozen potatoes. It was great because we didn’t have to go searching for the ketchup! In the cart it went.
Then, we were off to find some chicken nuggets. Tyson has pretty much anything chicken: chicken quesadilla, boneless chicken wings, chicken strips, chicken nuggets, chicken patties. We grabbed a package of chicken nuggets and then a package of the Anytizers chicken bites in General Tso’s flavor! They are fantastic.
While in the grocery aisle, hubby wanted to grab some snacks. I swear every time he goes shopping with me he adds about 10 things to the cart. He’s worse than the kids.
On our way to the toy section, we swung by to see the fall decorations. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year, and I always love the selections that Walmart has!
Last stop was games! You can’t have family game night without games! There was a great selection to choose from! There were new versions of games like Scrabble, Uno, and Sorry. You could also opt for some classic games like Battleship, Yahtzee, and a few others. Our son has been dying to play Battleship, so that’s what we chose. Every time we buy a game we rotate which kid we are buying for that way they each feel special!
After shopping, we were all ready to have fun! Food, fun, and family is what it is all about right?! To get dinner started, we put the french fries and chicken in the oven. The kids and Mr. Crunchy played Battleship while dinner was cooking. It didn’t take much to make dinner. We opened a bag of carrots, served the fries and chicken, and had milk to drink! No preparation meals are fun to do every now and then!
Found out that my kids are pretty strategic when it comes to Battleship. I hardly won any games! Guess I need to brush up on my skills! Brenden ended up being the Battleship champion. I think he was practicing when he was visiting family in Florida.

How fun! Gave me inspiration for tonight. I am going to plan a fun dinner and game night tonight!
Yum! I want to have a family game night soon.
Looks like a perfect snack for game night. Ill have to think about these on our game night Friday night. thank you for sharing.
Battleship is such a wonderful game! It looks like a fun evening!
We love Heinz! My grandpa used to work there, it is the only ketchup we’ll keep in the house!
I was never any good at Battleship… I was MUCH too predictable so my brothers always knew where I would place my ships!
