The bags are filled with tiny beans that are made to keep their shape. This is what prevents them from flattening out like the ones I grew up with. You can shift, shape, and sit on your chair as much as you would like and not worry about the beans flattening out. The filling feels like snow. It’s also zippered and shut with heavy duty velcro, I mean HEAVY duty! I had to get my husband to help me open it. You don’t have to worry about the beans spilling out!
