I will be the first to admit that I am really not that into comic book character based movies. I have seen most of the Batman and Spiderman movies. I even went to see Green Lantern, but that was merely to see a buff Ryan Reynolds. When Mr. Crunchy said he wanted to see The Avengers, I wasn’t too thrilled, but thought it was worth a shot to see what all the stink was about.
IMAX AND 3D IS A MUST
First off, if you live in an area that is showing this movie in 3D and IMAX you have to see it! I wouldn’t watch this movie any other way. The 3D effects in the film were amazing and made you feel like you were in the trenches with the Avengers fighting alongside them.
Some parts of the action were moving so fast it did appear fuzzy at times, but overall the 3D was probably the best 3D filming I have seen yet. (Even better than the Harry Potter 3D films)
ACTION PACKED
There were a few parts where the movie was a little bit slow, but just when I was about to get bored the Avengers threw in a stroke of humor. Then they went back to kicking butt again. The fight scenes were really well staged, and it was amazing to see how all the Avengers used their different powers to defeat the invading forces.
Even though there are a lot of fight scenes, I would consider The Avengers kid friendly. My children aren’t yet 13, but I would let them see this movie. If your kids have seen any of the Batman or Spiderman flicks, they would really enjoy this movie as well.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THOR
I will be the first to admit the eye candy I went for in this movie was Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth. Though I was disappointed he remained clothed the entire movie, he really did have a pivotal character in the film. I don’t know if it’s his long blond hair or his accent, but something about him is captivating. Girls if your men want to see this movie for date night, Thor alone is worth seeing this film.
100% CRUNCHY APPROVED: 5 STARS
Even though I am not the avid comic book fan, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. (No, it wasn’t only because Thor was in it.) I found myself laughing, cheering the good guys on, and applauding when they kicked Loki’s butt. Disney did a really good job of bringing these Marvel comic characters to life, and I really hope to see another Avengers movie in the theater soon!
